Most of our spend is on internal capabilities, fundamental and technology research, products development and processes improvement.
Our aim is to bring to you the today’s best available technology. This means for us to avoid using any kind of proprietary technology unless what is applauded as an worldwide adopted standard.
Software Development Our software architecture is based on open standards such as Java and XML. Java technology is an object-oriented, platform-independent, multithreaded programming environment. It is the foundation for Web and networked services, applications, platform-independent desktops, robotics, and other embedded devices. All our Enterprise software is developed using Java EE 5 with a full support for EJB 3.0
Software Architecture Our software is designed on a multi-tier architecture approach (“three-tier architecture” architecture) in which, the presentation, the application processing and the data management are logically separate processes. This approach improve quality and flexibility of our software development process.
Platform Thanks to Java technology, our software and solutions are completely cross-platform. This means that each customer can run our solutions on different OS (Windows, Linux…) and AS (BEA Weblogic, Oracle IAS, IBM Websphere, Sun Glassfish….), both Open Source and commercial as well. This means that we can easily fit our solutions to the Customer’s budget.
Configuration Approach Rather than developing custom code for each customer, our solutions can be configured to meet each customer's needs by configurable user workflows, business rules engines, configurable user level roles, events triggers, and many other configuration tools.
User Interface Our technology provides a rich, browser-based interface that supports local and remote users. All software modules have been designed to be Web-based as well as to be installed locally on clients workstations. For the mobile and self-service applications we use advanced but easy to use touch screen GUIs.
Performance All our solutions are designed to maintain ultra-high reliability, availability, and resiliency and completely eliminate risks of costly downtime. Our solutions operate in some of the largest and most demanding enterprise environments (> 10 millions passengers per year). The scalability and the performance of our technology has been tested in hundreds of mission-critical installations, successfully completed and managed in the last years.
SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) E-Dea have developed his IMOS® (Integrated Maritime Operating System), the next generation software platform for the shipping and short sea markets, following the SOA approach and technologies. Based on a SOA paradigm and using open standards as JAVA EE and XML – SOAP, IMOS® offers a unique platform designed to satisfy business and integration needs of all operators involved in maritime operations.
Hardware Integration
We have many people in our R&D team, and a dedicated Test Room facility working to test and integrate innovative hardware components and devices with our software. We want to be 100% sure that our software is able to run on all hardware involved in our Customers solutions like kiosks, mobile devices, printers, etc...
